University CounselorAl Akhawayn University is seeking an energetic, experienced counselor to provide counseling in the areas of personal, career, and academic development. Additionally, the candidate would be responsible for providing guidance counseling at the Al Akhawayn School of Ifrane (K-12) consisting of individual and group sessions for students and providing staff support. Candidate must exhibit an appreciation and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds. Assignments are scheduled throughout the calendar year, and may require evening, weekend, and other workload obligations. Job Description University Counselor will provide counseling sessions to Al Akhawayn students, staff, and faculty, in English, on various issues related to emotional and cultural adjustment, crisis management, stress, interpersonal conflict, and personal development. University Counselor will also: •Arrange counseling outreach activities at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI) and the Al Akhawayn School of Ifrane (ASI) •Provide crisis intervention for AUI residents as needed •Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students at ASI, as well as teacher support •Attend ASI staff meetings •Keep records and reports up to date regarding caseload •Provide monthly reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs on counseling activities •Consult with visiting psychiatrist as needed •Confer regularly with the medical staff at AUI •Teach one course during the fall and spring semester in the Center for Academic Development •Provide support for university initiatives requiring a counseling perspective •Participate in the Freshman Committee for semester review of students at risk •Provide training to Resident Assistants and other student groups as needed Minimum Qualifications Candidate must have: •A minimum of a Master's degree in Counseling or related field (Education, Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work) from an American-accredited institution •Two years college-level counseling experience including personal and crisis counseling •Experience in facilitating training and/or teaching, developing and presenting workshops •Familiarity with computerized student information systems •Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite Preferred Qualifications •Have overseas living experience •Background in cross-cultural communication and cultural adjustment issues •French or Arabic speaking skills Benefits •12-month renewable contract •Housing in university apartment, relative to size of accompanying family Salary •Commensurate with qualifications and experience •Fully transferrable to a foreign bank Qualified applicants are invited to submit a letter of application, a CV, and two letters of reference to the following address:
