THE SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING (SSE) has openings for faculty positions in Computer Science (Software Engineering, Computer Networks, Computer Security), Electrical Engineering/Embedded Systems, Energy (Sustainable Energy, Energy Management), Engineering Management/Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, and Mechanical Engineering for Fall 2011. The School of Science and Engineering has undergraduate Bachelor of Science programs in General Engineering, in Computer Science, and in Engineering and Management Science. We currently offer seven Masters in the areas of Computer Science, Computer Networks, Software Engineering, Computer Security Systems, Biotechnology, Sustainable Energy Management, and Software Engineering & Management Science (only in combined BS/MS formula).
The School is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their active involvement in teaching and service to the excellence of the academic community. Teaching is in English and familiarity with the American system of higher education is a must. Additional responsibilities include advising students, program assessment, scholarly activity, and involvement in service to the School and University.

COMPUTER SCIENCE: We seek applications in two areas: Computer Networks, Computer Security, and Software Engineering.  Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. in a related field and have significant experience in academia and/or industry.  Candidates must have good teaching recommendations, and a strong commitment to teaching and using innovative methods of instruction and assessment. They should demonstrate superior core computer science teaching ability as well as interest in applied research. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to teach both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, to join existing R&D project teams or start new projects, and to contribute actively to a growing and dynamic environment.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING/EMBEDDED SYSTEMS: Candidates are expected to either hold a Ph.D. in a related field or hold a Master degree and have significant experience in industry. They should demonstrate superior teaching ability and interest in applied research.  The successful candidate will have an opportunity to teach at the undergraduate levels, to join existing R&D project teams or start new projects, and to contribute actively to a growing and dynamic environment. Embedded Systems candidates will contribute to the development of system-on-chip projects and capacity, and industrial support.

ENERGY (SUSTAINABLE ENERGY, ENERGY MANAGEMENT): The School is launching a Master of Science in Sustainable Energy Management. Candidates are expected to either hold a Ph.D. or a Master degree with significant experience in industry in engineering or physical sciences related to renewable energy, energy management, energy transformation, or distribution. They should demonstrate superior teaching ability and interest in applied research. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, to join existing R&D project teams or start new projects in renewable energy systems, energy distribution systems, energy management, and energy economics and policies. The School has good research facilities for renewable energy research, small wind turbines, hydrogen electrolysis and storage system, photovoltaics and inverters.

ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT/INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING: Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in Engineering Management/Industrial Engineering or a related field, a strong industrial experience background, demonstrated excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, and promise of continued scholarly and professional growth.

MATHEMATICS: Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in Mathematics, a strong mathematics background, demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching, and promise of continued scholarly and professional growth. Preference will be given to candidates that can interact with current mathematics faculty or contribute to different R&D projects. Candidates must have excellent teaching recommendations, a strong commitment to teaching and using innovative methods of instruction and assessment, and a demonstrated potential to scholarly activity.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING: It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have an earned PhD or MS in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.  Professional and academic experience is desirable, and preference will be given to candidates with strong teaching competencies at the undergraduate level.

Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary offers are determined based on a standard grid linked to rank, with a number of additional allowances possible. The very low cost of living in our area make our offers competitive.
