What is Add/Drop?
Starting the first day of classes, students are allowed to change their schedule by adding or dropping a course. Students may add and/or drop courses during the Course Add/Drop period specified in the academic calendar. Students begin the Add/Drop process by obtaining the Course Add/Drop Form from Enrollment Services. All students must have the permission of their advisor and their school coordinator to drop or add a course. The adding and/or dropping of courses is not official until all applicable tuition and fees have been paid to the University and the completed Add/Drop form has been received by Enrollment Services.
How do I drop a course with ‘W’?
If you drop a course after the last day of registration it becomes part of your academic record. A grade of "W" is noted for courses dropped after this date and prior to mid-term.
The period allowed for dropping a course with “W” is announced in the academic calendar
How many credits am I allowed to take each semester?
Undergraduate students may register for no more than 17 credit hours (5 courses or 6 courses with CAD or PED (Physical Education). Otherwise, students need to have a CGPA of at least 3.00 or a special permission of their school dean.
When would I get a WP or WF grade?
If you wish to drop a course beyond the 40th day of the regular semester and the 18th day of the summer session, the instructor has the responsibility for determining the grade based on your performance in the course up to the time of your request to withdraw from the course. The instructor will then assign either a grade of "WP" (if passing), or "WF" (if failing).
What is priority advising?
AUI operates on intermittent registration system where students are given priority to register for classes based on their current classification. For example, the first day that course registration is available is reserved for seniors; the next day for juniors; the next day for sophomores, and the final day for freshmen. During these days, only those students within the designated classification (i.e., seniors, freshmen) may register for classes.
What is taking a course as an independent Study?
It is an opportunity for a student to work on an individual basis with a School faculty member who agrees to supervise his/her work.
To receive credit for an independent study, students must:
- Pick up a blank independent study form from your school.
- Meet with the faculty for the independent study. The student and faculty must work out the exact nature and purpose of the independent study and specify what will be required.
- Be sure that there is a clear understanding between you and the faculty about the expectations for success. All requirements must be in writing. Both the student and faculty sign the independent study form.
- The School Dean should review the form for the final approval.
- Return the completed form to the Registrar’s Office.
- Once the independent study has been approved, the credits will be added to the student’s schedule.
- Students are responsible for paying for the course credit on time.
- Late fees are accrued even if they have not yet been registered for these units.
How do I drop/add or withdraw from a class?
You can drop/add a class within the first four class days. For more precise dates, see AUI academic catalog.
You can withdraw from a class up through the withdrawal date which is published in the AUI catalog.
