Must I see an advisor in order to register for my classes?
It is strongly recommended that each student see an advisor prior to registration.
What are prerequisites? Co-requisites?
A prerequisite is a course condition or requirement, which must be met before enrolling in a course. Students are not allowed to enroll in a course without first satisfying the prerequisite.
A co requisite is a course, which is required to be taken simultaneously with another. For example: Chemistry must be taken in conjunction with Lab
What does it mean to audit a course?
To enroll in a course for audit means that the student is not seeking college credit for the course. The student will pursue the body of knowledge inherent in the course but the instructor will not grade the student's efforts. See the 2005-2007 Academic Catalog page 72 for further details.
Which class should I take?
Your academic advisor can assist you in selecting classes that meet your major requirements as well as your General Education Requirements.
When do I register for classes?
Information about when to register for classes will be sent to students via email and posted on campus.
What is an elective course?
An elective course is a course a student has to take outside the university core, the school core, the program core, and the minor with the approval of the advisor and coordinator. Each school defines the number of credits to be taken as electives.
How do I pre-register for courses?
- Go to the Pre-registration Center and take the Pre-registration Form.
- Make your course selections with the assistance of your academic advisor.
- Be sure to select alternate courses should a first choice course be closed.
- Your Pre-Registration Form is not complete until both your advisor and the school coordinator have signed it.
- Bring your duly completed and signed Pre-Registration Form to the Pre-registration Center according to your time assignment.
If you are a continuing student you must pre-register. If you do not do so, you will forfeit your right to enrollment at the University for the subsequent semester and your seat (and accommodation) may be allocated to a new student.
When can I be officially registered for a given semester?
You will be officially registered for classes on the regularly scheduled registration dates announced in the academic calendar through the end of the Add/Drop period (4th class day in regular term and 2nd class day in summer). If you are a continuing student, you will get a copy of the official class schedule already set in the pre-registration period. In case you are a new student, your class schedule will be prepared the day of registration by the Registration officers.
Your registration is not complete until all applicable fees are paid.
