Dr. Awatif Boudihaj joined CAD in August 2003. She got her doctorate degree in Education from Leeds University in UK. She has taught at the tertiary level both in Saudi Arabia and in the Sultanate of Oman. Her research interests involve writing, discourse analysis, needs analysis, Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and developing students' research skills.

She has an MA in Psychology from Yerevan State University, Armenia and a PhD in Classics and Ancient History from University of Exeter, U.K. She taught courses and held seminars in psychology and ancient drama and her recent research was in the field of Roman literature with focus on Ovid’s Metamorphoses and Seneca’s tragedies. She enjoys reading novels and poetry, watching films and spending time with friends.

Lynn De Rose has a Master’s in Education from Framingham State University, Massachusetts, a TESOL certificate from Columbia University, New York, and a BA in Psychology from San Francisco State University, California.  She has taught academic skills including information literacy and critical thinking in English-medium universities in New Zealand, Slovakia, and Turkey.  She is interested in formative assessment, practical applications for learning research, and needs analysis and curriculum development.

Kolin Goncalves, a Professor of English Language and Literature, has lived in England, Brasil, USA, China, Slovakia, Morocco, Indonesia, and South Korea and has visited 20 other countries. Kolin enjoys photography, reading, free running, biking, hiking, and traveling. He speaks English and Portuguese fluently and conversational French, Spanish, and Chinese.

He has a PhD in education. He has taught language skills, study skills as well as content areas in a wide range of institutions. His research interests include language policy, critical approaches to TESOL, the global politics of English and educational policy.

Taten Sheridan received his MFA in Creative Writing from the University of New Orleans and also holds a CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults). He has university and community college teaching experience in the United States, including courses in composition, literature, ESL/EFL, critical reading and writing, and screenwriting. His wide range of academic interests include curriculum development, international studies, composition and discourse analysis, creative writing, film, and the arts.

Khalid Mrabet


Associate Dean for Students Affairs and Faculty Member at CAD

Dr. Khalid Mrabet is the Associate Dean for Student Affairs at AUI. Dr. Mrabet holds a PhD in Education Technology from the University of Virginia. He previously worked at AUI as the first Director of Student Activities when the University first opened in 1995. He has since held teaching as well as administrative positions in institutions and research centers in the Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and the United States before rejoining AUI in the Fall of 2010.
