Trading Room
Following a cooperation agreement established between Al Akhawayn University and BMCE Capital, the investment banking arm of BMCE Group, the School of Business Administration (SBA) of AUI inaugurated on the 27th of March 2000 its Trading Room. The SBA Trading Room is the first training center of its kind in Morocco and in the region where students pursuing the BBA and Masters in Finance programs have the opportunity to acquire practical expertise and knowledge about local and international financial markets.
The SBA Trading Room provides an environment permitting real world simulations of trading activities in such areas as foreign exchange, money market and fixed income. The SBA Trading Room also enables students to practice their knowledge of financial issues and further enhance their applied research in financial markets activities.
The SBA Trading Room is fully equipped to carry out all types of transactions on financial markets. BMCE Capital and its affiliated entities have donated the entire installation of the Trading Room including eight trading Desks along with PC based work stations as well as telephony installations especially designed for trading rooms. Reuters has graciously provided eight electronic connections with all related support for electronic transmission of market data. These provide real time quotations, historical information and modules for markets analysis. Telepac Technology has kindly carried out the installation of the trading room telephony.
In June 2002, The SBA trading room licensed the Financial Trading System (FTS). FTS is an all-inclusive, entirely web-based software package that allows students to conduct markets using pre-designed cases, modules and other support material. With this system, students have the opportunity to manage their own real-time position, act as market traders and apply theory.
FTS lets students trade in a virtual trading room that is interactive, visual, and dynamic where students learn finance theory "by doing.
